Music for Social Change.

Founded in 2010 by the Israel Philharmonic and the Faculty for Social Science at Tel Aviv University, Sulamot creates social change through music. Sulamot’s programs—all free of charge—open the world of music to children from all racial, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds in Israel.

Sulamot’s mission is to enhance children’s musical talents while improving their education, creativity, and ability to cooperate with groups of diverse peers. These skills are essential to helping them become successful adults and citizens who are motivated to give back to their communities.

More than 10,000 children have received free private and group instruction on instruments such as the trumpet, flute, saxophone, clarinet, violin, cello, guitar, oud, and darbuka.

Sulamot serves children in all corners of the country – including Beer Sheva, Mitzpeh Ramon, Arad, Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Haifa, Nazareth, the Bedouin sector, and more. Students receive music lessons from talented musicians who inspire and take inspiration from every child.

Sulamot teaches young musicians that anything is possible and achievable through music. The program increases children’s confidence, sense of belonging and feeling of pride. Children who are part of Sulamot consistently display improved grades and higher self-esteem. Some children even go on to take matriculation exams in music or consider music as their future profession.

Our program empowers children with skills that cultivate self-worth, youth development and artistic achievement to help them successfully integrate into Israeli society.

Sulamot is a program of KeyNote, the Israel Philharmonic’s classical music education and community-building programs that reach more than 22,500 children every year in Jewish, Arab-Israeli, immigrant, religious, and secular K-12 Israeli schools. Click here for more info about KeyNote.
